Monday’s Mantra: Relax

We’ve all suffered from the case of the Monday’s.

Coming back to “real life” after a weekend can cause some dreads to creep up for the work week ahead. The laundry list of things to do for the week can sometimes seem overbearing, becoming stressful and even daunting. This coupled with lack of motivation and your Monday can quickly transform from making moves into making yourself miserable.

But not today! Instead of obsessing over all the things you’ve got to get done, take a moment to just back, breath, and RELAX.

Why? Because life shouldn’t be as stressful as we tend to make it. I’ll be the first to admit that I occasionally take life way too seriously. And this is okay – to some extent. You should have goals for yourself and strive to achieve them, but don’t do so to a point where you are making the energy of your efforts hinder your results.

What I mean by this is that if you stress out about all the things coming you need to accomplish, your energy becomes frantic, your thoughts get clouded, and your mind will become overwhelmed which will directly affect your work ethic, negatively, and thus impedes your results.

Another thing to remember here is that our Monday usually sets the precedent for our week ahead. So instead of giving in to the usual case of the Monday’s, set your week up right with these simple steps:

  1. RELAX

In the midst of getting through your work, allow yourself some time to sit back, take breaks, center yourself, and relax. Take a walk, enjoy some tea, make time for laughter. What soothes your soul? Do that – you DESERVE it.

  1. Keep it simple

There’s no need to have it all figured out all the time. There will be times when we aren’t really sure about how we are going to get all the things on our lists done – and that’s okay! If we’re calm and remain collected, the steps will work themselves out by keeping things simple and taking things one step at a time. Be PRESENT.

  1. Celebrate

Tis’ the season! So let the merriness carry over into the workplace. Honor your successes, no matter how small, and celebrate them! It’s the little things in life that matter most, right? Then treat all those little wins like they should be treated – as little presents you’ve given yourself by working hard and being mindful of your progress. YOU GO GLEN COCO!

Monday’s don’t have to be so incriminating. We have the power to choose how we feel about them and this directly affects our actions and outcomes. If you let every little thing you need to do consume you, you will be taken over an ocean of stress.

So lets switch it up and bring a mellow vibe to this Monday. Reward yourself with some relaxation along the way and float through the waves of the week.
